Application Procedure

Application forms:

  1. a application form for the registration at the Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main
  2. an application form for the reservation of a room in a students residence
c) an application form for the intensive German language course Application Deadlines

June 1, 2002 for the winter semester (September 2002 until end of January 2003)

November 1, 2002 for the summer semester (February/March 2003 until mid of July 2003).

Please be aware that applications submitted beyond these closing dates may not be considered anymore, especially concerning accommodation.

After we will have received the application forms, we will send more detailed information to the studentshome address (about accommodation, language course, when to arrive, formalities etc. see enclosed information booklet). Would you please make sure that students clearly fill in their home addresses and E-mail address in the application for the arrangement of accommodation.

Accommodation

We can only arrange for accommodation for students who have sent their applications by the above mentioned deadlines.

The Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main does not have on-campus accommodation but we have a number of places in student residences in Frankfurt run by the association of student affairs. We cannot guarantee a room for each student who applied for one, but we try our best to find a room for all the students.

Renting periods in student halls are fixed:

winter semester September 1 to January 31

summer semester February 1 to July 31 The monthly rent for a single room in a student residence is between € 170 and € 200 plus a deposit of €250
Private accommodation is about €250 up to €358

Students should be aware that in Germany rents have to be paid monthly. This means that they will have to pay for the whole month, even if they arrive later in the month.

The rooms are furnished single rooms with self-catering (community kitchen and showers; washing machines are available; students have to bring along the own dishes, towels and bed linen). When applying for accommodation, students should be aware that most residences in Frankfurt are not brand new and therefore they should not expect a very high standard.

Note:

Students who have the possibility to get private accommodation in Frankfurt (friends, relatives etc), should do so and tell me as soon as possible.

German Language Course

Usually we offer a preparatory intensive German language course before the start of each semester (the first three week in September for the winter semester and the whole of February for the summer semester). If there are enough applications for the language course, we organise two courses on different levels (beginners with basic knowledge and advanced level).

Please be aware that SOCRATES/ERASMUS-students/resp. other exchange students are expected to already have some good knowledge of German (about 200 hrs). We do not offer a beginners course.
